The One by KC LuckThe One by KC Luck is a perfect short read. It’s a suspense with a twist, a romance and a completely unexpected set of characters.

Lynn longs to find her soulmate. She has seen her parents live happily together and wants to find the woman who fits her the same way. Someone with the same habits and hobbies, someone who is exciting and shares the same interests. Why is that so difficult to find?

Lynn will do anything to find The One. And when she meets a homeless woman she gets an inkling that she may have found true love at last.

The Characters

I absolutely love the characters in this book. They are complex and provide a wonderful surprise.

The Writing Style

This short story is simply perfect. Read it all because the layers that KC Luck manages to build when you don’t realise it is astonishing.

On the surface it seems like a simple story but when the twist happens. It’s oh so satisfying.

The Narration

Violet Dixon was an excellent choice to narrate this short audiobook. Her pacing and revelations were spot on and the way she played with the characters and the surprise twist make me a happy listener as I smirked in delight.

The Pros

KC Luck has managed to create a story as compelling as it is twisty.

The Cons

Not a darn thing

sheena's favouriteThe Conclusion

If you want a satisfying, exciting, suspenseful read that makes you marvel at the author’s talent then this is your next read. It’s short and inexpensive so just believe me and try it.

At only 28 minutes long the audiobook is the ideal listen for a commute or a bit of chores around the house. Pay attention though, you don’t want to miss a thing.

Tip: Because it is so short it is cheaper to buy it straight out than to use a credit on it.

Excerpt from The One by KC Luck

Trying to take pleasure in the fact it was Friday, and there was a weekend ahead, Lynn scrolled through the stations on the radio in her plain Ford van as she rolled down the freeway during her evening commute. Rock. Pop. Country. The type of music did not seem to matter. All of them were singing the same sad song for her. I’m looking for love in all the wrong places, she thought. With a sigh, Lynn reached to turn the music off. There was no point in repeating the obvious. Before she could reach the button, a news bulletin broke in.

“We interrupt this program to bring you a special announcement. Local authorities have issued a warning regarding recent murders in the downtown Denver area. Residents are advised to—”

Lynn pushed the off button before the announcer could finish. She was not in the mood for useless chatter. The word about a serial killer had filled the newspaper headlines for weeks, but as far as she could tell, the police were clueless. No doubt looking in the entirely wrong place, she thought with a shake of her head. In her opinion, cops were pretty stupid. Regardless, Lynn did not care. She had learned a long time ago to not worry about things she could not change. Instead, she refocused on her disaster of a love life. At the moment, it was dead, and there were no current prospects on the horizon.
