Tangled-Mark-by-Becky-HarmonTangled Mark by Becky Harmon is pretty sexy for an action book.

The company Flagler Security has an information leak. Agent Melissa Carter is sent in to investigate Nicole Mitchell’s team. The two women clash immediately. Is it hatred or passion that’s making both their temperatures rise? No matter, agent Carter needs to find out where the leak is coming from to stop it before anything catastrophic happens.

The Characters

Nicole “Nikki” Mitchell is an agent and sniper for Flagler Security. She has been with the company for ten years and, of course, prefers no personal relationships due to her complicated life style.

I liked her because she is quite the firecracker. She is passionate, confronts most of her problems head on, and asks questions. On a different note, I love how much she works out because I relate to that. There is nothing I love more than seeing a character in action.

Melissa “Mel” Carter in a word: swag. Her main job at Flagler would be considered stalking. Up until her current situation Mel preferred to work alone. Never getting caught up in her job or attracted to any of her marks. She is the picture of confidence. It was fun and sexy to read about her.

The Writing Style

Third person with shifting perspective from Nikki to Mel. Any book under 300 pages I consider short. This novel is 252 pages, so personally I would classify it as a quick read. Because the story was so short, the plot moved swiftly.

The Pros

Overall it was really sexy for an action book.

The Cons

The book felt a little bit unfocused. At the end I had a few questions and there was a story that was alluded to but never elaborated on that seemed like it could be really interesting.

The Conclusion

Just because there is a con doesn’t mean this isn’t a good read! I took pleasure in reading this book and it was exciting to see such sexiness written into an action book. If you are an action reader and looking for a book with engagement and some passionate loving, I’d recommend this book.

Excerpt from Tangled Mark by Becky Harmon

She picked up her cell phone and punched in the number her fingers had been itching to dial.

“Mitchell,” Mel said seductively, using Nicole’s last name when she answered.

Nicole’s breath caught and Mel wasn’t sure if she was shocked or pleased to hear from her. “Now what?” Nicole asked arrogantly.

“What kind of reception is that?” Mel asked with a hint of laughter in her voice. “I have coffee. Want to let me in?”

“No,” Nicole said too quickly.

Now Mel laughed openly. “I thought we were becoming friends, Mitchell.”

“Friends? Really?” Nicole couldn’t help but laugh too. “I’ll be out in five. Keep my coffee warm.”
