Silk And Leather by Victoria VillasenorSilk and Leather: Lesbian Erotica with an Edge, edited by Victoria Villasenor, is an erotic anthology about pushing boundaries and making your wildest fantasies come true, if you dare. When there are no rules to follow, would you take advantage of the opportunity to try something new? Have you ever fantasized about anonymous sex, being a top to someone’s bottom, indulging in sex in front of an audience, or seducing the woman who’s always seemed unattainable? Well, here is your chance. This collection of stories by award winning authors offers up fantasies as soft as silk and as tough as leather.

The Characters

I loved these characters. I got to meet women from all over the world – dashing butches and sumptuous femmes. There are women of color, nonbinary characters, women with curves, but most importantly, when it comes to sex, these women know what they want and they’re willing to make their fantasies come true.

The Writing Style

The overall writing in Silk and Leather is top-notch. Each author has their own distinct voice, so every story feels inventive and fresh. As they say: One woman’s pain is another woman’s pleasure. What turns me on might be too kinky for some or too vanilla for others. I’m going to highlight three different stories that I think give a general feel for the range of edginess in this anthology. (Heat ratings take into account these stories are already extremely hot.)

“Playing with Fire” by Lacie Ray is a sexy romp between Andrea, the director of the city’s public library, and Taylor, the firefighter who comes to fix the library’s alarm panel. Told in first person from Andrea’s point of view, it’s a fun fantasy featuring the women in uniform trope. When Andrea first lays eyes on Taylor in full uniform, she immediately feels a deep yearning for the younger woman. When Taylor asks if she would like her to return after hours to make sure her panel is still in working order, Andrea eagerly accepts. I won’t spoil the rest of the story, but who hasn’t fantasized about a gorgeous butch in full fire department gear coming to the aid of a damsel in distress? Let’s just say Andrea’s panel isn’t the only thing that gets Taylor’s full attention. 🔥🔥🔥

“Learning to Ask” by Butch Indeep is a smoldering story between Ellie, a shy waitress, and the enigmatic Damian, a regular at her restaurant to whom she has been attracted for some time. Damian’s androgynous style which undercuts the binary is an appealing draw for Ellie, and they’ve been encouraging Ellie to be bold and ask for what she wants out of life. Ellie summons the courage to do just that. She asks Damian to come home with her that night and stay for breakfast. Damian readily accepts and what ensues is an evening of erotic pleasure that explores power dynamics. The story is very moving. Ellie accepts the way Damian presents themself which allows Damian the safe space to be vulnerable with Ellie. This story is both poignant and hot. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

“The Key to Happiness” by Jeannie Levig is an explicitly sexy story about two women who participate in the Domme/sub lifestyle 24/7. Kendall is an accomplished editor in chief of a global magazine. She is the picture of confidence and control. Her personal assistant, Amy, is sweet and efficient, always at Kendall’s beck and call. Away from the office, however, their roles couldn’t be more different. Kendall is a natural sub. Being owned by Amy makes her feel safe, protected, and cared for. Amy is a firm Mistress, and the story takes place on the last day of Kendall’s punishment – orgasm denial. This story is told in first person from Kendall’s point of view, and it’s off the charts hot. It explores the D/s dynamic, erasing some of the stereotypes that persist around this topic. There’s a deep layer of love at the foundation of Kendall and Amy’s relationship, and God bless us everyone, the reader gets to be privy to their very sexy, very graphic lunch hour. This story was the highlight of the anthology for me, but I’m aware it’s different strokes for different folks. No pun intended. (well, maybe a little one.) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The Pros

While it was nice to read authors whose work, I’m familiar with, I thoroughly enjoyed discovering a few authors I had never read before. Having both seasoned and new authors made for a very satisfying group of stories.

The Cons

Not one.

victorias favourite booksThe Conclusion

For me, Silk and Leather is one of the best erotic anthologies I’ve come across. (Again, no pun intended.) It seems that often times readers want an erotic anthology in which every story appeals to their specific proclivities. That’s an unrealistic expectation, yet I’ve caught myself doing just that. In this case, every one of the short stories had something that grabbed my attention and inspired my imagination. I’m sure I will be rereading many of them.

Excerpts from Silk and Leather: Lesbian Erotica with an Edge, edited by Victoria Villasenor

“Playing with Fire” by Lacie Ray

I turned to face her. My cheeks felt warm. She was younger than I first thought. Probably a good ten years younger than me. I licked my dry lips and swallowed. The wetness between my legs was distracting. Hell, Taylor was distracting. She stood there with one hip cocked and a big smile on her face. I looked at her hands, then back up at her beautiful, smiling face. Her eyes traveled over me again and I watched them stop at my breasts, just for a second, before they moved to meet my eyes. Enough time to cause my nipples to tighten even more. I felt swollen and wet and ready for sex. Not good at ten in the morning at work in a public library.

“Learning to Ask” by Butch Indeep

It was the longest six-block walk of my life. Though I was anxious to get Damian into my bed, I was enjoying the frequent and sudden stops they made to kiss me and feel me up. I felt so desired and desirable in those moments. Damian’s dark eyes, full of lust and promises of pleasure, seemed to see into my very soul. Their firm, clever hands stoked flaming heat over my skin. Their low, growling voice whispering filthy promises and asking daring questions intensified the passion consuming us both.

As soon as we stepped through the door of my brownstone and shut the door behind us, Damian pushed me hard against the door, kicked my feet wide apart, and shoved my skirt up over my ass, pulling my hips toward them and pressing my face into the curtained glass panel. Exposing my wet panties over my swollen sex, they growled their appreciation. But instead of taking me hard right in the doorway as I expected, Damian simply massaged and caressed my ass cheeks, humming their pleasure.

Finally, with a sharp slap to my ass, they commanded, “Strip. Now.”

“The Key to Happiness” by Jeannie Levig

I let myself into my penthouse apartment, and I know she’s already there. I don’t know how I know, but I always do. And, as always, I stop just inside the foyer and undress, stripping down to nothing but the leather chastity belt that’s kept me under her total control for eight long days. I fold my clothes neatly and place them on the table beside the door, my shoes in their place beneath it. My breathing is shallow, my pulse racing. The need between my legs grows more demanding with every second. I hurry into position, lest she catch me unprepared, and kneel, thighs spread, my ass resting on my heels; my hands linked behind my back; my gaze riveted to the floor directly in front of me. I wait.

I’m always embarrassed at this stage, in that shift from my outside world persona as the top executive of an international news magazine—accomplished, successful, in charge—to my intrinsic nature as a sexual submissive—waiting to serve, to be used, to be taken by my Mistress.

After all this time, though, it only takes something simple, like a whispered word from her lips, her warm breath on my skin, a kiss, gentle or cruel. Or as now, the clicking of those spiked heels on the tile floor as she comes to claim me. I plunge into subspace.
