Picture Perfect by Lisa MoreauPicture Perfect by Lisa Moreau is a lovely contemporary, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Olive Hayes has never left Catalina Island. That’s why she’s stuck doing a local photographer’s dirty work, even though she’s incredibly talented. When the Catalina photography contest is announced with the ultimate grand prize (becoming a travel photojournalist for Journeys magazine), Olive knows it’s time for her to grasp at a new future—one that will make her face the fears that have kept her in one place all of her life.

Olive should be a shoo-in, except for one problem—Gabby Pacelli, her greatest rival who always seems to win the contest. Gabby’s a player with a reputation for doing anything to win, but somehow Olive can’t seem to stop the attraction that flares every time she sees the feisty Italian.

Gabby spends her days managing her family’s pizzeria chain, but all she wants is to be a full-time photographer. When her sister’s wedding is set to take place on Catalina Island, it seems like a perfect chance to sign up for the photography contest, because just maybe Gabby can finally get the life she wants. She just needs to stay ahead of the brilliant and attractive Olive…

The Characters

I liked Gabby and Olive a whole lot. They’re both warm, sweet, and just all around fun to read. They each had some interesting character growth and their chemistry totally worked for me.

Between Gabby’s family and some of the locals on the island, there’s also a large cast of side characters that keeps things interesting. Sometimes meddlesome, sometimes supportive, I always found them entertaining and appreciated that they helped move the story and relationship development along.

The Writing Style

Picture Perfect has a light, breezy feel to it, making it an excellent beach read. I appreciated that even though it’s an enemies to lovers story, it manages to have some angst, but not too much. I was also glad that the antagonism between Olive and Gabby isn’t over the top.

The Pros

Everything worked for me! It’s sweet, sexy, and a lot of fun with characters I enjoyed and a romance that gave me a happy sigh!

The Cons

Nothing for me.

The Conclusion

I really enjoyed Picture Perfect and recommend it. If you’re a fan of contemporary romances and want a pick-me-up, you’ll want to read this book.

Excerpt from Picture Perfect by Lisa Moreau

“Here.” Olive jabbed the bottle of wine at Gabby, who studied the label.

“Nice choice. Thanks. I hope you’re hungry. Mamma tends to overdo Sunday dinner.”

“Actually, I’m famished.” Olive hadn’t eaten anything all day, dreading a night at the Pacellis’.

“Follow me.” Gabby held out her hand. Olive paused and stared at it, unsure what to do. She wasn’t accustomed to holding hands with strangers. This certainly wasn’t a date, and it wasn’t like they were friends. It could just be an innocent gesture, though, considering the Pacellis were the touchy-feely sort. On the other hand, she didn’t want to give Gabby the wrong idea. After too long of a delay, Olive decided it’d be rude to slap her hand away. Their fingers automatically laced, like they’d been holding hands forever. Olive suppressed a sigh at the feel of soft, smooth skin. It’d been a while since she’d held hands with a woman, or anyone for that matter. This wasn’t so bad after all. In fact, it was kind of nice…in a non-dating sort of way, of course.

Gabby led them to the backyard, which looked like the Garden of Eden. Fragrant lemon trees, green grass, and a cute gazebo stood in the corner, surrounded with overhanging vines. In the middle of the yard, the Pacelli sisters sat at a long picnic table. Nonna was in a porch swing dozing off, and Mamma Pacelli was nowhere in sight.

Isabella approached with a curious look at their clasped hands. Olive shook free and crossed her arms.

“I’m so glad you could make it.” Isabella slipped an arm around Olive’s waist and guided her to the others. Yes, they were definitely the touchy-feely type, which probably meant Gabby’s hand-holding had been completely innocent. Strangely, that probability was a little disappointing.
