Lost and Delirious is based on the novel The Wives of Bath by Susan Swan. Let me start by saying that Lea Pool changed the book significantly enough to make a good movie out of a terrible book.
The story is that of three seniors at the Perkins Girls College. Mary, a new girl, joins the boarding school and rooms with Tory and Pauline.
Tory and Pauline are romantically involved and when Tory’s sister discovers that they are lovers, all hell breaks loose.
This is a story about growing up, discovering first love and the sadness that a broken heart can bring.
The Characters and Plot
The characters are memorable and the plot is filled with angst and drama, just the way I like it.
The Technical Side
It is a beautifully made film, reminiscent of a fairytale.
The Pros
A great film. Definitely a must watch, especially if you like angst filled movies.
The Cons
The biggest con about many great lesbian films is that the film makers never go on to make more great films.
Also worth noting is that it sadly falls into the lesbian film trope of death at the end.
The Conclusion
Well worth watching. One of my favourites.
