Hotel Queens by Lee WinterHotel Queens by Lee Winter is one of the best opposites-attract and thawing the ice-queen romance novels that I’ve ever read!

Who would have thought that two strong-willed hotel executives would meet up at a bar in Las Vegas and shamelessly flirt with each other oblivious to the fact that they are rivals in every sense of the word?

Amelia Duxton is the vice president of Duxton International Hotels and she is always at her best whenever she is in charge and everything is in its rightful place. She is brutally honest and she doesn’t sugarcoat anything for anyone. Amelia doesn’t want to waste any more of her precious time or energy on love because it is messy and complicated. She just wants to buy Mayfair Palace because it would be the deal of a lifetime and it would help her get closer to her goal of becoming the CEO in her family’s lucrative hotel business.

Kai Fisher is the beguiling queen of chaos and seduction and she is well-known for closing challenging deals. She will do everything in her power to ensure that her company gets Mayfair Palace instead of her unscrupulous enemies, the Duxton family.

Will Kai and Amelia be able to put their differences aside and follow their hearts so that they could have the love they truly deserve?

The Characters

Kai Fisher is also known as “The Closer” and she has a reputation for getting big deals time and time again. She loves her job and she lives for the thrill of always having the upper hand. I’m going to come clean and admit that I was drawn to Kai from the beginning because I admire her one-track mind when it comes to closing business deals. My respect for Kai grew ten-fold when I realized that she would go above and beyond to fight for the rights of exploited working-class people who are unable to fight for themselves. Even though Kai has a good heart, she’s got a lot of flaws but her flaws just made her more endearing to me.

Amelia Duxton is the vice president of her family’s hotel enterprise. She only cares about two things: becoming the CEO of Duxton International and winning her family’s respect once and for all. Amelia is a woman after my own heart because she is the goddess of calculation and precision and I’m rather fond of those things as well (wicked wink!) Her family members and staff think that she is colder than an iceberg because she doesn’t have much patience for adults but she has a soft spot for children. I really wished Amelia was a real woman because I am pretty sure that we would have bonded over our great love of numbers.

Quinn is Amelia’s right hand woman. She is plain-talking and she doesn’t take any nonsense from anyone. Milly is Kai’s assistant and she is the person who always keeps Kai on track. She has a dry sense of humor that I adore and she is fiercely loyal to Kai. I have so much love for Quinn and Milly because they’re awesome women with big hearts and they care about the well-being of their powerful and determined bosses.

The Writing Style

Lee Winter has never let me down with any story she has written and this novel has surpassed my highest expectations! I really enjoyed how the author had slowly but surely revealed the numerous secrets and deceptions that were happening behind the scenes. This story was told through Kai and Amelia’s points of view and I got to experience London and the bright lights of Las Vegas through their eyes. Plus, I was given unrestricted access to their conflicting thoughts and emotions. By the way, this author definitely owes me a good night’s sleep and a couple of unique “I am so sorry that I’m late for work again” excuses for me to give to my boss!

My Favourite Parts

Is there anything better than devouring a story with a stubborn and brilliant ice-queen and a fiery and seductive smooth-talker who are both sworn rivals and they’re willing to pull out all the stops to acquire the same magnificent hotel? I don’t think there’s anything in this world that can top that! I had forsaken sleep and household chores in order to pull off the longest reading marathon of my life when I was deep in Amelia and Kai’s world. I couldn’t get enough of the palpable and undeniable chemistry between Kai and Amelia and I was living my best life while I watched them fall hard for each other. Lee Winter deserves the highest of fives because she gave me an insight into how hotels operate and she also gave me unforgettable and endearing characters!

Heads Up

This story should have been longer because I wasn’t ready for it to end!

The Conclusion

aprils favourite booksIf you’re a huge fan of stories that feature ice-queens with tender hearts, quirky assistants, endless family drama and tons of witty banter that will keep you entertained until the wee hours of the morning, then this is definitely the story for you! Excerpt from Hotel Queens by Lee Winter

Amelia’s gaze drank in Kai. Laughing, intelligent eyes drew her in, as did the sensual mouth, so ready with a smile. Kai seemed so sure of herself, and while overconfidence was a huge turn-off in general, what if it was just well-placed confidence? Amelia had to admit she was interested enough to find out which it was. Not to mention, there were those amazing legs to consider.

Legs, mouth, and eyes versus cockiness? Three against one.

“A drink,” Amelia murmured, the edges of her mouth turning up. “I will accept one drink.”

“What’s your preference?” Kai’s eyes sparkled. “In drinks.”

“Anything that doesn’t taste like battery acid this time.” Amelia offered a small smile in return. “Why don’t I have what you’re having?”

Pleasure lit Kai’s face. “Absolutely.” She exhaled so deeply that it sounded like she meant every syllable. “Let’s do that.”

Her sheer delight startled Amelia. It had been a long time—years—since anyone apart from Imogen had been this enthusiastic about spending time with her. How novel. Amelia was only too aware of how out of character it was for her to say yes to a drink with a woman she’d just met. But it was all harmless fun, right?

After all, what was the worst that could happen, having a drink with an attractive stranger in a bar in Vegas?
