Collide-O-Scope-by-Andrea-BramhallCollide-O-Scope by Andrea Bramhall is a quality murder mystery novel.

Kate Brannon is put on the case of a woman who has been found with her face shot off. Kate’s search leads her to find Georgina Temple or Gina, the deceased’s best friend.

Detective Brannon is forced to take a closer look at the town of North Norfolk. Putting a magnifying glass on the small village Kate begins to see the cracks and details that makes up the town, and just like a Kaleidoscope with just the slightest shift or angle the view completely changes.

The Characters

Kate Brannon is the sergeant investigating the homicide of Connie Wells. She carries herself with authority.

Her character was one of my favorites because she always had some smart arse thing to say.

Georgina Temple is a single mother. Strong, independent and kind of an introvert. I love the way her character is written because she doesn’t just forget about her child when there is a beautiful woman around. She sticks to her convictions and is rather smart and funny.

The Writing Style

This story is told in first person switching between Kate and Gina. It has humorous, snappy dialogue and adorable flirting, the kind that made me smile while reading.

The mystery unfolded smoothly and the pacing was great for both the mystery and the romance.

The Pros

The blend of lesbian romance and murder mystery was perfect. I also loved the way the characters spoke and interacted with each other. It was quirky and fun to read.

The Cons

This is really a personal conundrum. The book is set in England and there are a lot of terms and slang that went right over my head. It didn’t hinder my reading experience but there was a little bit of disconnect for me. Like I didn’t know that a flashlight is referred to as a torch…

The Conclusion

Fun fact: my hobby is watching murder mystery cases and serial killer documentaries on YouTube. With that being said I have a pretty high standard for murder mystery books especially when it comes to the dialogue.

This book passes my test. I recommend it to people who like charming, flirtatious characters, hilarious scenarios and a mystery.

Excerpt from Collide-O-Scope by Andrea Bramhall

We need to get those wet clothes off you and start warming you up, regardless of whether or not the paramedics are here then. Do you understand me, Kate?”

“Yeah. You’re gonna strip me naked on the marsh, you wild woman, you.”

Gina threw her head back and laughed. “Yes, I am. Aren’t you a lucky woman?”

Kate looked into those blue eyes that she hadn’t been able to get out of her head and whispered, “Yeah, I think I just might be.”
