In this line-up of phenomenal books, I will give you the low down on the novels that have kept me up way past my bedtime and you will also find out which stories made me play hooky from work (please don’t tell my boss!)

The Sagittarius by K Aten1 The Sagittarius by K. Aten

Published by Regal Crest Enterprises

This book is a mythical and historical novel that portrays the struggles and triumphs of the Telequire Amazon nation. It is also the third book in the Arrow of Artemis Series.

What it’s about

Kyri has known her share of loss in the two decades that she has been alive. She never expected to find herself a slave in Roman lands, nor did she think she had the heart to become a gladiatrix. But with her soul shattered she must fight to see her way back home again. Will she win her freedom and return to all that she has known, or will she become another kind of slave to the killer that has taken over her mind? The only thing that is certain through it all is her love and devotion to Queen Orianna.

Why I love it

Who doesn’t love gorgeous Amazon women? I fell arse over tits in love with Kyri and Orianna because I had a front row seat to their budding attraction that evolved into a love like no other. This story will always have a special place in my heart. I cried and cheered for Kyri as she fought with all of her might to overcome the numerous obstacles in her way just so that she could return to the only woman who has ever owned her heart.

Paper Love by Jae2 Paper Love by Jae

Published by Ylva Publishing

This book is a delightful contemporary workplace romance with adorable characters you will never forget, beautiful stationery and a quirky cat!

What it’s about

Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan in this lesbian romance from best-selling author Jae.

Susanne Wolff isn’t thrilled when her mother sends her all the way across the country to Freiburg to save her uncle’s stationery store from bankruptcy. Freiburg is too provincial for her taste, and besides, pen and paper are outdated anyway.

Anja Lamm, Paper Love’s only full-time employee, takes an instant dislike to the arrogant, digital-loving snob who’s supposed to be her temporary boss.

But thanks to a meddling cat, a business trip to a stationery fair, and an armada of origami boats, Anja soon starts to see beneath Susanne’s aloof exterior, and Susanne discovers how sexy pens and notebooks can be—at least when Anja handles them.

As the end of Susanne’s three-month stay approaches, will she stick to her plan to leave, or will she open her heart to more than just paper love?

Why I love it

I adored Anja’s love for stationery because I happen to be a pen, paper clip and notebook hoarder (Shhh! I’ll never admit this out loud so don’t tell anyone else, okay?) I really hope that Jae plans to write more stories set in Germany because this novel took me on an amazing journey! I felt as though I was seeing the Bachle with my own eyes and the mouthwatering descriptions of the food almost made me purchase a plane ticket so that I could sample those culinary delights!

The Neighbor by Gerri Hill3 The Neighbor by Gerri Hill

Published by Bella Books

This book is a contemporary romance with an opposites attract theme and it has a healthy dose of humour!

What it’s about

When Laura Fry returns to her childhood home to care for her mother, she hopes the writer’s block that has swallowed her writing career will disappear. She doesn’t plan on turning into a “yard girl”, but her mother’s long neglected lawn beckons her to return it to the lush and colorful display it had been before her mother’s accident. Laura also doesn’t plan on making friends with the “nympho lesbian” next door—but she finds it impossible not to watch the parade of playmates that show up at her neighbor’s pool.

Cassidy Anderson likes pool parties and female company. And while the pool remains the same, the female company changes nearly every weekend. As her mid-forties approach at an alarming speed, she’s still searching for the love of her life. When she finds herself seeking out the company of the cute tomboy next door, Cassidy starts to think that maybe she’s been looking in all the wrong places. Could it possibly be the neighbor who holds the key to her heart?

Why I love it

I am a huge sucker for beguiling butch goddesses and this stories did not disappoint because Cassidy made me swoon. Then there was Laura… at one point in time I really wished that I could have met her in person, however, I am pretty sure that I would have made a complete fool of myself. I just love Gerri Hill’s style of writing because she has never failed to give me beautiful descriptions of the great outdoors!

Compass Rose by Anna Burke4 Compass Rose by Anna Burke

Published by Bywater Books

This book is a futuristic, dystopian/post apocalypse story about the radical climate change that occurs due to relentless pollution and the catastrophic consequences that mankind has to live with as a result of that.

What it’s about

In the year 2513, the only thing higher than the seas is what’s at stake for those who sail them.

Rose was born facing due north, with an inherent perception of cardinal points flowing through her veins. Her uncanny sense of direction earns her a coveted place among the Archipelago Fleet elite, but it also attracts the attention of Admiral Comita, who sends her on a secret mission deep into pirate territory. Accompanied by a ragtag crew of mercenaries and under the command of Miranda, a captain as bloodthirsty as she is alluring, Rose discovers the hard way that even the best sense of direction won’t be enough to keep her alive if she can’t learn to navigate something far more dangerous than the turbulent seas. Aboard the mercenary ship, Man o’ War, Rose learns quickly that trusting the wrong person can get you killed—and Miranda’s crew have no intention of making things easy for her—especially Miranda’s trusted first mate, Orca, who is as stubborn as she is brutal.

Why I love it

Fearless pirates, climate change and a woman with an uncanny sense of direction? I’m all in! Although I was already hooked when I first learned about Rose—I melted into a huge puddle of desire and I kept making love faces at Miranda from the moment she came on the scene. I just couldn’t put the book down and I pulled an all-nighter of course! The only fall-out for me was the fact that I got to work an hour late but I regret nothing because I got to live vicariously through these women!

Knotted Legacy by Brenda Murphy6 Knotted Legacy by Brenda Murphy

Published by Nine Star Press

This book is a sizzling and enthralling BDSM romance. I’m pretty sure that you will have to read this story at home because you’ll need a lot of cold showers to cool down! (Trust me, I know what I’m talking about because the heat level in this story had me rushing home before midday!)

What it’s about

Martha McLeod, Head Mistress of Rowan House, Skye’s most exclusive pleasure house, is heartbroken.

Frustrated and lonely after a bitter split with her lover, she departs Rowan House for Lake Como, Italy to seek solace at the feet of Madam Givernay, keeper of Martha’s deepest secret. Lake Como and Madam’s attention is the perfect balm for Martha’s broken heart, until she meets Mistress Lucia Coruso.

Captivated by Lucia’s regal elegance and cool demeanor, Martha is torn between her desire for Lucia and the fear her secret will be revealed. When an extortionist threatens to destroy Rowan House, Martha and Lucia must join forces to save it.

Why I love it

I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t have a BDSM erotic romance on this eclectic list! Erotic romances will always own a huge part my heart and I’m extremely fond of this story because I love the vibrant characters and the breathtaking descriptions of the landscape. Martha and Lucia are the epitome of sensual and seductive! I can’t wait for this author to release another book in the Rowan House Series.

Charming The Vicar by Jenny Frame7 Charming The Vicar by Jenny Frame

Published by Bold Strokes Books

This book is a wonderful contemporary romance that has everything that I love—BDSM, age gap and a piping hot attraction between a dapper butch illusionist and a stunning femme vicar.

What it’s about

Finnian Kane, famous master of illusion, mentalist, and renowned atheist, has a crisis of faith after her sister’s death. She rents a cottage in the village of Axedale in Kent, desperately trying to find a safe haven from the intrusive media to grieve and work out how to move on.

The Reverend Bridget Claremont makes it her mission to help the enigmatic Finnian find her faith in life again. Bridge has long yearned for a life partner, and her best friend’s wedding has intensified that desire. But when you’re a lesbian vicar in a small English village, it’s not easy to find your perfect match.

Their chemistry is clear from the start, despite their different beliefs and Bridge insisting Finn isn’t her type. But will the mentalist find the magic that can charm the vicar?

Why I love it

If all the vicars were like Bridget—I would be attending church every Sunday! Jenny Frame has surpassed all of my expectations with this story because Finn and Bridget are so easy to love and relate to. She has portrayed each woman’s flaws and their desires so vividly. I felt as though I was seeing and hearing every intimate moment they shared.

8 Code of Conduct by Cheyenne Blue

Published by Ylva Publishing

This book is a contemporary workplace romance between a tennis player and an official. It also has enough angst and drama to keep you hooked until the last page.

What it’s about

Viva Jones was great once. A top ten tennis player with a grand slam trophy to her name, she had the world at her feet. Then an overzealous lineswoman’s bad call knocked her out of the US Open, and a persistent injury crushed her career. While battling to return to the game she loves, a chance meeting with the lineswoman, Gabriela, forces Viva to rethink the past…and the present. Away from the court, Gabriela is sexy, athletic, and lives for her career as an umpire. She seems to be falling for Viva as hard and fast as Viva is for her. There’s just one problem: players and officials can’t date. A lesbian romance about breaking all the rules.

Why I love it

This story contains so many flavours for one spoon because I got to see what a tennis player’s life is like through Viva’s eyes. On the flip side, I got to know Gabriela and I am really pleased that Cheyenne Blue let me have a peek into her heart and mind as well. Every word in this story tugged on my heartstrings because it asks this timeless question—would you put what you were born to do on the line for a chance at love or is your career the beginning and end all of everything?

Up On The Roof by AL Brooks9 Up On The Roof by A.L. Brooks

Published by Ylva Publishing

This book is a contemporary romantic comedy with an ice-queen, meddling neighbors and laugh out loud situations.

What it’s about

When a storm wreaks havoc on bookish Lena’s well-ordered world, her laid-back new neighbor, Megan, offers her a room. The trouble is they’ve been clashing since the day they met. How can they now live under the same roof? Making it worse is the inexplicable pull between them that seems hard to resist. A quirky romance, laced with classic British humor, about the power of opposites attracting.

Why I love it

Romantic comedies are my feel good stories and they will always bring a smile to my face no matter what mood I’m in. This story had me chuckling in so any places—at my desk, in a long bank queue and anywhere else I felt comfortable enough to sneak a read and slip into Lena and Megan’s world. I know that I’m being biased here but I adore Lena because we share the same profession, we’re OCD all the way and we are both pajama queens (we would rather stay at home and cuddle up with a good book than go to a party.)

10 Cavalcade by K’Anne Meinel

Published by Shadoe Publishing

This book is a historical romance about braving an unknown and dangerous terrain in order to acquire land on the western frontier.

What it’s about

Molly didn’t know what kind of life to expect when she fell in love with Erin Herriot—her schoolmate, her best friend, and a woman. She had been grateful for Erin’s friendship when the bank swindled her after selling her parents’ farm and she was invited to live on Erin’s parents’ farm. After making the difficult decision to live life as ‘man and wife,’ Molly gladly accepted the challenges before them. Together, they made the decision to sell Erin’s farm and embark on the journey of a lifetime…on the Oregon Trail. Erin couldn’t give Molly children; however, she could love her forever. But leaving the area where they had both grown up and where everyone knew the women was the only way they could be together without questions about the true nature of their relationship. Come along on their adventure as two women cross the country, adopt a family, and begin a life that neither had imagined possible growing up in the mid-1800s.

Why I love it

I get weak in the knees whenever there’s a hot butch woman in any story that I’m reading and K’Anne Meinel provided me with Erin! I have so much respect for Erin because she pretended to be a man during an era where she would have faced a lot of harsh repercussions for doing that. This story has touched me very deeply because I learned a great deal about the massive migration to the west (A very important period in America’s history) and I know that I won’t forget Molly and Erin any time soon!
